NorCal Facilities Expo Sept 30-Oct 1: Five Reasons We Love it!

In case you didn’t know, the NorCal Facilities Expo is coming up soon! We’ve been going for about 1,000 years. If you’re on the fence about going, here are some reasons you should join us! And we’ve written about the NorCal Facilities Expo before–here are some of our previous posts:

Sign up is free

Not only is sign up free, there’s free parking at the Santa Clara Convention Center, too! How many events are free any more? None, that’s how many! Here’s the sign-up link. At the very least, you can meet a bunch of people (including us!), listen to some good lectures, and learn a few things, too. On another note, the venue is pretty great, too. The Santa Clara Convention Center has huge glass walls, which you’ll see as you walk in.

Interesting events

No matter who you are, you’ll love attending an event or two. Here’s the schedule for the events. This year, the keynote will be all about AI. On Tuesday, there’s a talk about The Five Generations in Today’s Workforce–which everyone needs to understand. On Wednesday, there’s a talk about the Nation’s First Net-Zero Energy Mass Timber Civic Building, nearby in Redwood City. Note the giveaways and happy hour, too.

Meet other professionals

Whether you’re a facilities manager, maintenance manager, or just someone who’s curious about what’s happening in the facilities world, you’ll get to meet people and learn something new. Everyone is always very friendly and willing to talk. And people ask some of the craziest questions, which we’re happy to answer. We really love the emphasis on prevention that we’re seeing at the Facilities Expo, too.

The swag!

Some of our favorite swag comes from the Facilities Expo. There are markers, small tools, candy, and mugs. Last year, there was a potted plant given out as a prize at one booth. And we love all the unusual swag such as the tool card blueprint, webcam cover, and bottle openers we saw last year. Some of our favorite swag comes from our friends at Atlas Copco. They’re also sponsoring the Happy Hour, by the way.

Come by and see our window film!

Come by our booth (right down the center aisle, near Atlas Copco!) and learn how we can help keep you and your home or business cooler and safer. We expect to field a lot of questions about our new safety films. In the past, we’ve met people from the commercial, industrial, government and institutional sectors. And many people we’d never expect to meet. We’d love to help you choose the best film. We work all over the greater San Francisco Bay Area, from San Jose to the East Bay to the San Mateo Peninsula and Marin–and have expanded into southern California, too! We’d love for you to join us at the Northern California Facilities Expo October 9 and 10, 2024. It’s in Santa Clara, California at the Santa Clara Convention Center. We’ve been going for more than the number of fingers we have, but here are the most recent posts:

Don’t you love events where you get to walk around and talk to people and learn about new products and services? So do we! That’s why we keep going back year after year. You’ll see some amazing new products and visit our booth, as well as others! For instance, we love our neighbors at Atlas Copco, one of the sponsors this year!

It’s Free

Hey, this is so a good reason. And sometimes the best things really are free, despite that old saying You Get What You Pay For. Like puppies, and parks, and having conversations with future friends. Even the parking is free! Plus! If you’re counting your steps like most of our friends are these days, you’ll get a lot of exercise aka steps!

You’ll Learn Things

We can’t say which things you might learn, but there you go. How does that old saying go? You don’t know what you don’t know or something like that. We’ll definitely teach you some things about window film if you stop by our booth.

The Northern California Facilities Expo: Five Things We Love

Nearly every year since about 100 years ago, we’ve been going to the Northern California Facilities Expo. This year, it was September 12 and 13, 2023. To say we love going would be a vast understatement. Here are just a few reasons we love going. And by the way, we’ve written about facilities managers and window film before.

We love our spot at the Facilities Expo–straight down the main aisle in the middle. And also, we love being next to our friends at Atlas Copco. We got to sponsor Happy Hour with them again this year! By the way, if you missed any of our past posts about the Facilities Expo, here are a few:

Here’s our booth at the Facilities Expo!

You might think we get to see each other often, but we don’t always gather together for long. Here’s more of the crew, below.

You know what else was extra fun this year? Going up in our friend Sunbelt Rentals Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) and seeing the entire room at the Facilities Expo!

One thing we haven’t talked about is the venue itself–the Santa Clara Convention Center, which is huge and well constructed. You do have to walk a long way to get to the Facilities Expo, but it’s worth it. And look at all that glass! (Oooooh!)

The Window Works Crew at the Fabulous Northern California Facilities Expo 2021 in Santa Clara

On October 27th and 28th, 2021 the Window Works Crew traveled to the Facilities Expo Conference in Santa Clara. Here are some highlights! We had an amazing time at this live event and thought we’d share a few photos.

By the way, we’ve been to the Facilities Expo before, but that was in the Before Times! Setting up the Booth

The set up took a few minutes (and a few hours of planning), but we were up to the challenge, since everyone pitched in to help! You wouldn’t even believe how much of this booth would fit into one cart! And that’s lucky because the Santa Clara Conference Center is huge and there’s a lot of walking to do.

Luckily, not everyone is scared of public speaking! Go, Asia!!!

Behind the Scenes

There was a lot of joking around, talking and exchanging information behind the scenes. Also, lots of taking pictures and interviews. Since there haven’t been a lot of in-person conferences, this one was a welcome relief to meet and talk face-to-face.

During the Show

Yes, we got a lot of questions about window film (particularly 3M window film!) during the show. Luckily, we are all well-versed in 3M window film. And we often said “did you know that window film could do this?” Or “this isn’t your grandma’s window film!” A lot of people have outdated ideas about window film based on seeing someone’s DIY job on their car (purple, fading, peeling and just plain ugh!).

Happy Hour Hosting

After extensive research, we discovered that many people love beer! So guess what?! We sponsored the Happy Hour beer and snack cart and that made a lot of people verrrrrrrry happy! And that made us happy, too! We hope that next time, you’ll be able to join us.

On October 9 and 10, 2019, several of us from Window Works worked a booth at the Northern California Facilities Expo at the Santa Clara Convention Center. You might enjoy reading our last blogpost, about the Expo here. Here are a few photos!

We really enjoyed the set up of the booth. We had lots of people coming and going during the entire show. The only time our booth was empty was before the show opened!

Window Security System

Our window security systems display drew a lot of attention at the Expo. People wondered at the protection that window film gives them. Time is of the essence when someone is trying to break and enter your home, and security window film protects your property and family from intruders as well as broken glass! Read about how 3M Safety and Security Window Film is being used in schools.

Visit the Northern California Facilities Expo 2019 October 9-10

We’d love our local friends to come and see us at the Northern California Facilities Expo. The Expo will take place Wednesday and Thursday, October 9th and 10th, 2019, at the Santa Clara Convention Center, 5001 Great America Parkway, Santa Clara, CA 95054. It’s very close to Levi’s Stadium.

The DeFacto Facilities Show for Facilities Engineers in the Bay!

Attendees come with around 100 keys jingling from saving their buildings from floods, to black-outs, to roof cave ins… it’s THE solutions market place for Back Room heroes who run our buildings across Silicon Valley. So if you have a solution, or if you’re looking for one, you need to be here!

Window Works’ Focus This Year

This is our fifth year at the Expo, and we’re the only-ish Window Film Vendor at the Expo. We’ll have a double booth, so be sure to stop by!

We’ll be focused on fast but durable solutions for buildings such as
- Anti-Graffiti Film to mitigate Glass Damage around door push bars (keys are often the culprit)
- AG Film to mitigate etching
- Metal Shield Films that look like Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Gold Stainless
